LOS. Or Last One Standing. It’s not your average event. There is not predetermined overall distance and there is only one winner. Maybe.
Karen contacted me and asked if I would be interested in coming to her inaugural LOS event and produce a video for it. She wanted a video that would capture the event but also help explain the concept all while being there for the last one standing and the win.
After some discussion, I suggested a long format video would suit the event style best giving us time to explain the mindset of the runners, explain the event concept and be there until the end.
This was my first attempt at a long format style video. 15min is a lot different than 2-3min. It cannot just be action, action, action. It needs more depth, time to breath and I was excited for the challenge.
As usual I put together a rough plan of what I wanted to include in the video. Watching some other videos of a longer format and of similar style racing, I started to formulate a better understanding of how I would put this all together. But as they say… a video is all in the edit. And this could not be truer. I shot everything, maybe overshot even.
I was told when starting out to do this as you will always have more to work with. Problem can be you then need to decide what goes and what stays. Not an easy task but better than having too little to tell a complete story. Just make sure you have enough cards or are uploading to backup in between as running out before the winner has won is not an option.
