CaseStudy- Fitness Boxx

ClientBrief

This was a client that a really enjoyed shooting with that also benefitted my health along the way.  Fitness Boxx based in Warriewood on the Northern Beaches provide small group training.  They know their stuff.

I would shoot one week a month, every day for that week at different class times to ensure we got different clients.  So some weeks I would shoot each day at 5am, some at noon or some at 6pm.  The classes and exercises varied just as much with each day focusing on different muscle groups and programs being swapped out every couple of months.  It was a smorgasbord of options for my camera and visual eye.

I shot for the owners Ryan and Scott for over a year before moving out of Sydney making travel to far to continue.  I benefitted myself as I could also workout when not shooting.

As always.  A new subject or new client and the ideas flow freely.  Shooting 5x a month, each month for over a year meant I had to keep looking for new ideas.  New angles.

I often shoot with flashes.  I did few times but quickly worked out that would not work in such a small space and people and gear always moving.  The challenge of seeing something,  getting in place and getting the shot before the person moved on really honed in my eye.

I had a few opportunities to shoot with some of the instructors and do some more staged type shots and bring the lights back.  This was more for me than the club but the instructors got some portraits they can use for their own socials and such.

I enjoy keeping fit and consistency is the key.  It was a pleasure to get to the customers of the gym and see their progress.  Like keeping fit, photography is about being regular, showing up and doing the work.  If you want to improve I can highly advise you make it a regular practice and never think you have shot it all.
