ClientBrief

I love working with clients on repeat business, especially those that just get it.  The know the process, they trust it and are flexible with ideas when I pitch them something crazy.  Also, some know exactly what they want and make the job easier as there is no wasted time going back and forth and not making a clear decision.

Tristan, who I have worked with before at MaxAdventure also works for Ka-BOOM Fireworks.   I would say its his little passion project.  Who doesn’t like things the blow up and make colour at night.

Ka-BOOM have been doing a display for Harrington every new year for some time now.  They wanted to produce a few videos that would show off the entire fireworks display and share it with the local business council but also a few they could use to promote what they do.

So a long form, short and story was needed.  It needed to be engaging and include the crowd’s oohs-ahhs as well.

The result was a success.  Some of it worked out better than we had hoped as when you that many cameras all shooting there is always something that can go wrong.

The setup was 2x main cameras capturing the full show but different angles.   This allowed us to switch views at key displays to keep it interesting.

We also had to 2x GoPros recording.  1x was a over the crowd and 1x was at the base of the tubes.  A no go zone while the display was on.

Lastly, I wandered about with a camera shooting different aspects from the festival, crowds, cheers, etc.

Having multiple cameras was definitely beneficial.  It meant more hands needed to be on deck to start recording, provide security for cameras left out and help pack up when done.  Working with clients like this make it easier and drives me to put in the extra effort to go above and beyond.
