My partnership with Mont started when I was heading to Iceland and was looking for brands to partner with to produce some imagery for when I was traveling. Mont was a good fit being an Australian brand and had final say over their partnerships and who they work with. They make great gear and was a good fit for alot of outdoor activities I like to do.
So the arrangement was some cold weather gear in exchange for images. Go travel to amazing places, take photos of our gear while there and share. Not a difficult concept…. So long as your passions align and you are not faking it just to get the gear. I love outdoors and so it was a genuine desire for me to go to these places and take photos anyways.
This continued after the first trips to Iceland with further trips in Australia, Tasmania, Scotland, Austraia, Switzerland and Canada. I still use their gear today.
Outdoor travel and adventure. Planning hikes, scouting scenic locations, working out logistics and best time to shoot. It’s alot of work, it doesn’t always pay off as weather can be fickle, but when it does it can create memories that last a lifetime, inspire others to get out and see places off the beaten track and simply slow down.
This for me is what it is all about. So shooting imagery for brands that feel the same way or make products for epic outdoor experiences is right in my wheelhouse.
Sometimes I wish I could go lighter, not have to constantly be on the lookout for the angle or have to setup the tent in the perfect angle for the shot…. but then I think I wouldn’t be out here or appreciate the small details if I took the easy path.
